The Southeast Region Lab Startup Innovation Group, led by UNIST, participated in the launching ceremony for the ‘2025 BootCamp: Public Technology-based Venture Support Program,’ held on March 26, 2025. The event was attended by representatives from 110 laboratory startup support teams, who received training to enhance their entrepreneurial capabilities.
Eleven teams from five universities in the Southeast region of Korea successfully qualified for the 2025 BootCamp. Starting in April, basic training will begin, covering topics, such as the creation of Business Model Canvas (BMC) and interview techniques, with prototype production support planned for May. In July, customer exploration and business model enhancement will be promoted, followed by the official launch of startup incubation in August. In December, outstanding achievements from each team will be showcased at the Laboratory Startup Festival, concluding the program.

Key figures attending the 2025 BootCamp included UNIST Vice President Hyun Sil Ahn of Research Affairs, Minister Sang-Im Yoo of the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT), and Chairman Jeong Hwa Han of the Korea Entrepreneurship Foundation (KoEF). Additionally, leaders and practitioners from seven laboratory startup innovation teams, as well as instructors and experienced entrepreneurs, were present.
The event featured a variety of programs, including presentations of I-Corps success stories, venture capital seminars, interview communication workshops, and introductions to customer development methodologies. Notably, networking time was arranged between the exploration teams and instructors, fostering vibrant exchanges among entrepreneurs.

Vice President Hyun Sil Ahn stated, “This BootCamp has strengthened the determination of aspiring entrepreneurs and created a valuable network between the innovation team and exploration teams.” He emphasized, “Going forward, the Southeast Region Lab Startup Innovation Group will actively support startup teams through professional training and mentoring.”
Meanwhile, since 2021, UNIST has been selected as the Southeast Region Lab Startup Innovation Group, collaborating with KAIST, GIST, POSTECH, and Korea University to support university innovation technology entrepreneurship. This program serves to connect innovative technologies from universities and research institutes in the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam regions with startup initiatives.
