UNIST continues to advance in the global rankings, as evidenced by its improved position in the latest edition of the Times Higher Education (THE) Young University Rankings.
In the 2023 rankings, UNIST has climbed to an impressive 10th position, advancing one spot from its previous ranking. Moreover, when it comes to research impact measured by the number of citations a universityrs research obtains, UNIST proudly maintains its prestigious No. 1 ranking among Korean universities.
The Young University Rankings evaluates universities that are 50 years old or younger based on teaching quality, research output, international outlook, and industry collaboration. This year’s list includes a total of 605 universities from 78 countries—an increase compared to the 539 universities featured in last year’s rankings.
According to the recently unveiled results for 2023, Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University secures the top rank while Hong Kong University of Science and Technology claims second place. The third spot goes to Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), with Paris Sciences et Lettres – PSL Research University Paris from France and Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam (EUR) from the Netherlands rounding out the top five institutions.
UNIST achieved a remarkable feat, securing the 10th place worldwide in the 2021 rankings. After a brief setback to 11th position last year, UNIST has reclaimed its prestigious spot at No. 10 this year. UNIST’s consistent ascent in total score since 2018 underscores its unwavering commitment to enhancing education and research quality.
Meanwhile, in terms of domestic rankings, UNIST has upheld its No. 1 position for two consecutive years, with POSTECH, GIST, and Ajou University following closely behind.
