The Department of Physics at UNIST has announced that one of its esteemed graduates, Dr. Hoon Hahn Yoon, has recently been appointed as an assistant professor in the Department of Semiconductor Engineering within the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at GIST (Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology).
Dr. Hoon Hahn Yoon successfully completed his doctorate degree in February 2020 under the guidance of Professor Kibog Park in the Department of Physics within the College of Natural Sciences at UNIST. His research covers various topics, including how to deploy artificial intelligence (AI) sensors, more than Moore devices, electron quantum optics, and quantum phase transitions.
After completing his Ph.D., Dr. Yoon continued his research journey as a postdoctoral researcher at Aalto University in Finland. He then gained valuable experience as a staff engineer Process Architecture Team, Foundry Business Department of Samsung Electronics.
Dr. Yoon is now set to embark on a new chapter in his career as an assistant professor in the Department of Semiconductor Engineering within the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at GIST, starting in December 2023. His appointment is a testament to his exceptional academic achievements and research contributions.
Reflecting on his time at UNIST, Dr. Yoon expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the diverse experiences that have shaped his research trajectory and led to his appointment as an assistant professor. He stated, “I am immensely grateful for the incredible opportunities and diverse perspectives that UNIST has provided me. These experiences have not only broadened my horizons but also fueled my passion for research.” He further added, “I am truly honored to be appointed as an assistant professor and look forward to contributing to the academic community at GIST.”
