■ UNIST Student Honored at the 2022 KSIEC Spring Meeting!
JinWoo Park in the Combined MS/PhD program within the School of Energy and Chemical Engineering at UNIST has been honored with the ‘COSMAX Outstanding Research Award’ at this year’s Spring Meeting of Korean Society of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry (KSIEC), which took place from May 11 to 13, 2022.
COSMAX Outstanding Research Award is given by the Korean Society of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry (KSIEC) to student members whose recent research have made an outstanding contribution to his or her academic discipline.
Mr. Park started his research in 2016 when he was an undergraduate under the guidance of Professor Dong Woog Lee in the School of Energy and Chemical Engineering at UNIST. Over the course of seven years, he has been working on the study of chemo-physical processes at the interface of dissimilar materials and phases of matter. During this time, the Surface Force Apparatus (SFA) is mainly used and this allows for very precise measurement of interaction forces, such as friction and adhesion, with relevant interfaces and solution environments. For your information, there only exists three SFAs in Korea. Besides, it is also not easy to learn how to measure force distance profiles .
