A story about UNIST Development Fund has been featured in the April 2022 issue of Forbes Korea magazine. This was the story of Duksan Group Chairman Junho Lee, who pledged a contribution of KRW 30 billion towards the endowment fund of UNIST in November 2021. Chairman Lee’s interview, which was held under the title of ‘Path to Successful Entrepreneurship, Path of Sharing‘ discussed details relating to Ulsan, startups, and the UNIST endowment fund.
Duksan Group is a local company based in Ulsan, which started small, yet made its way up the medium-sized enterprise with annual revenue of KRW 500 billion. Chairman Lee practices what he felt and learned from business. That is to turn his dream into reality by creating a startup ecosystem that represents both Ulsan and Korea through the establishment of a public foundation worth KRW 100 billion. In the same vein, Chairman Lee made a contribution of KRW 30 billion towards the endowment fund of UNIST.
“About 80% of startups and related support systems are centered in the capital area,” said Chairman Lee during the interview. “I hope my experience and support will help boost local economies and talent pools.”
UNIST Public Relations Team would like to share the interview, published in Forbes Korea to remind you of the largest donation since the establishment of UNIST in 2009, as well as the significance of local businessmen born and bred in Ulsan to foster talents in the region.
