This award was given to Professor Kim in recognition for his success in the recent patented invention, namely Smart Safety Helmet.
The design registered, as the Millionth Certificate of Design Registration, can be used in industrial sites. Smart Safety Helmet is designed to provide real-time vital signs monitoring for workplace accident prevention, thus respond quickly in the event of a disaster.
This innovative design, which was registered on March 21, was promoted as part of the industry-university project, carried out by the Intellectual Property Center of Ulsan Chamber of Commerce and Industry. And this was a joint project between the UNIST Graduate School of Creative Design Engineering and HHS Co., Ltd., thus it has reached commercialization and soon will be released as a real product.
With the issue of pursuing the localization of parts, materials, and equipment has emerged as a key social issue in Korea, this event was held to encourage domestic technical independence in response to global technology hegemony. In addition to Professor KwanMyung Kim, the ceremony has been attended by the recipients of Two Millionth Certificate of Patent Registration: Professor Yong-Sung Kim from Ajou University (Tumor Cell Suppression Biotechnology) and President Seung-Joo Lee of Orum Therapeutics Co., Ltd.
