UNIST has once again received worldwide attention as a promising young university in the list, released by Times Higher Education (THE) Asia University Rankings 2023. According to the latest ranking, which was released on June 22, UNIST maintained its fourth-place position in Korea from last year and ranked 21st overall across all universities throughout Asia.
The remarkable accomplishments of UNIST garnered even greater recognition at the prestigious THE Awards Asia 2023. The award acknowledges exceptional cases from each university in a total of 10 categories, including outstanding leadership, institutional performance, and contribution to regional development
This year, UNIST was recognized in two categories: ‘Outstanding Contribution to Environmental Leadership’ and ‘Workplace of the Year.‘ However, it achieved the distinguished honor of being selected as the best case in the highly competitive ‘Workplace of the Year‘ category. This esteemed accolade serves as a testament to UNIST’s steadfast dedication towards establishing an extraordinary work environment that fosters growth, collaboration, and excellence.
UNIST has received this recognition for its remarkable efforts in establishing a positive and productive workplace environment. The university’s achievement was made possible through various initiatives, including career support, fostering a strong sense of community, and implementing robust measurement strategies to showcase the institution’s impact beyond its campus boundaries.
In pursuit of these goals, UNIST dedicated itself to activities centered around the themes of “recognition” and “connection.” The judges acknowledged that UNIST demonstrated a well-defined and comprehensive strategy aimed at enhancing the workplace environment for its members. They commended the university for its creative and impactful programs, which played a significant role in securing this prestigious award.
UNIST implemented a comprehensive program through 12 voluntary learning groups, enhancing the work environment. Notably, they analyzed the economic impact of UNIST on its region, using an innovative approach inspired by practices from other countries. The university also improved administrative functions and internal systems while introducing a systematic approach to targeted career support. Fostering creativity and fun within its community, UNIST created the ‘Word of Praise‘ section on its portal site and organized an engaging ‘Hidden Singer of UNIST‘ competition. These initiatives have significantly enhanced the institution’s culture, morale, and working relationships.
