《Editor’s Note: The spread of COVID-19 has brought significant changes to college campuses worldwide, forcing virtually all universities in South Korea to switch to online education. UNIST has been conducting non-face-to-face lectures since the first semester of 2020. However, with the recent decline in cases, many expect that campus life will soon return to normal. In order to help new students adapt to university life, the UNIST News Center and the Student Affairs Team plan to produce more episodes of ‘Welcome, First-Time at UNIST?’ in series.》
The UNIST theater club, Never Ending Story (NEST) is filling the campus life with various activities. The club has been working steadily since the establishment of UNIST in 2009. Some alumni of NEST are active as producers of broadcasting stations. We introduce NSET, which colors science and engineering campuses, which can be hard.
Hello!
We are the Never Ending Story (NEST), the UNIST theater club!
Founded in 2009, NEST is the only theater club of UNIST. Except for the non-face-to-face operation period due to COVID-19, NEST has produced two to three plays annually. NEST has a proud history of supporting regional prosperity by contributing to their time, efforts, and expertise in support of city programs and services that serve the community.
There are seven different positions on NEST, as follows:
1. Actor: Acts the play in front of the audience.
2. Sound Technician: Controls all sounds during the play.
3. Light Designer: Controls all lights for the play.
4. Props & Costumes: Prepares the props and costumes.
5. Visual Designer: Designs and produces posters, leaflets, etc.
6. Stage Production: Designs and builds the framework for the background of the play.
7. Director: Leads the play for all staff and producers.
All positions are necessary for creating a play and not one of these shall be missing.
From the script to the stage, producing a play involves a lot of hard work. Writing a script, practicing each part, giving and receiving feedback, and finally bringing it to the stage is what NEST has been doing and will be doing. Come join NEST and learn about theatre, drama, and music.
Sincerely,
NEST
