■ Professor Rodney S. Ruoff Named Among Microsoft Academic’s Top Authors in the Field of Materials Science!

Rodney S. Ruoff, Director of the Center for Multidimensional Carbon Materials (CMCM) at the Institute for Basic Science (IBS) and Distinguished Professor in the School of Natural Science at UNIST was mentioned as a Top Author among all Materials Scientists in the world, according to Microsoft Academic. He is also No. 2 in the world in Saliency in the field and the world’s second most cited author in Materials Science.

Professor Ruoff, a physical chemist, is affiliated with the Department of Chemistry as well as the Schools of Materials Science and Engineering and Energy and Chemical Engineering, and has been a Distinguished Professor at UNIST since his arrival over 6 years ago.

■ Professor Namhun Kim Recognized with Ulsan Mayor’s Commendation!

Namhun Kim, Professor in the School of Mechanical Aerospace and Nuclear Engineeringring at UNIST has been awarded the Ulsan Mayor’s Commendation on May 18, 2020. Professor Kim, who is an expert in the field of 3D printing, has been given this award for his efforts and dedication to the automobile industry.

The award presentation ceremony took place in celebration of the 14th Ulsan Motor Day. A total of 16 awards were presented, including commendations from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) and from the Mayor of Ulsan Metropolitan City. Professor Kim was the only academic scholar to receive a commendation at the ceremony.

Ulsan Motor Day has been celebrated every year in commemoration of the day (May 12, 1999) on which the cumulative automobile exports had exceeded 10 million units, since 2007. This year, due to COVID-19, the ceremony is one of several that is canceled.
