UNIST signed an industry-academia partnership agreement with Samsung SDS to pledge mutual support for one another in the pursuit of excellence in big data analytics related research and education.
The signing ceremony of MoU took place in the 6F conference room of Main Administration Building on February 27, 2019.
Samsung SDS currently operates the ‘Brightics Academy’ program, which supports learning and research through its self-developed analytic platform, called Brightics AI. Following Sungkyunkwan University, Hanyang University, Seoul National University, and KAIST College of Business, UNIST has also decided to join this program.

Academic programs offered at Brightics Academy are aimed at fostering close and mutually beneficial industry-academe partnerships. Under this partnership, the following subjects, such as Data Analysis & Application, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Data Modeling, are currently being taught as parts of their regular curriculum in their partner schools. Joint research projects, such as capstone projects are also being carried out through this program.
Meanwhile, the ceremony has been attended by Dean Dong Sub Kim, Professor Sungil Kim, Professor Yongjae Lee, Professor Chiehyeon Lim, Professor Sunghoon Lim, and Professor Sang Jin Kweon in the School of Management Engineering at UNIST. NakYong Yang (Analysis Platform Lab) and DaeWon Park (Big Data Research Team) from Samsung SDS also attended the event.
